Jason Hartman is joined by head of The Net Results, James Jones, to talk exclusively in this interview about Kindle and how to create direct profits. James defines Kindle Triangulation, which starts with picking the right niche by doing market research. Most books that don’t perform well in the Kindle marketplace are the result of a topic in which buyers are not interested.
Seller rank of 25,000 or less and a topic or subtopic with fewer than 500 available products is key to finding the best niche. James explains the math process used to determine that competitive niche. He also talks about promoting books on Amazon. The second side of the triangle is Book and Game Creation, and the third is Ranking.
Before Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, Linkedin, or PPC…before spam was anything other than a lunch meat…before any human being ever uttered the words “Google” or “Yahoo”…James J Jones was making money online with Bulletin Board Systems (BBSes) and Online Services by selling info products and computer supplies. Back then James found email to be the absolute best method for marketing his products.
In 1996, James put up his first website. Though he could only afford to work online a few hours a week, he saw his online income continue to grow. By January of 2002, James realized if he put just a little more effort into his “hobby” he could quit his job and work online full-time. So he made a commitment to do just that and by July of 2002, James was making enough money to realize his dream of working for himself.
Today James runs The Net Results — a company that specializes in developing leading edge software and training materials for the Internet Marketing Industry. He uses most if not all of the popular marketing methods to promote his business including: Adwords, Facebook, PPL, SEO, Twitter, etc. But email is still his most powerful marketing weapon.

For those new to podcasting, terms like RSS Feed, media hosting, and platforms can be a foreign language. Jason Hartman interviews long-time podcaster, Rob Walch, Vice President of Podcaster Relations for Wizzard Media/Libsyn, about his career in podcasting.
Rob talks about starting his first podcast, Podcast411, in 2004, which he began in order to teach the ins and outs of the trade to others aspiring to get in on this type of media delivery. He lists the best sources for statistics, such as Libsyn, Feedburner, and Blubrry. He talks about some of techniques of the biggest podcasters, who have hundreds of thousands of downloads per day or multiple millions per week, gives examples of premium content versus free content, and also the benefit of a podcasting service/community to provide media hosting, delivery, and track stats. He also stresses the importance of editing and professionalism to produce a quality show.
Rob Walch is the Vice President of Podcaster Relations for Wizzard Media / Libsyn. Prior to joining Wizzard Media
in 2007, he was President and founder of podCast411, Inc. Rob is co-author of the book “Tricks of the Podcasting Masters” – Que 2006, which was an editors pick as a Top 10 Reference book for 2006 by Amazon.com. Rob was listed as the 5th most influential person in podcasting according to the book “Podcasting for Dummies” – Wiley Press 2005. He has consulted on podcasting for Senator Edwards, Governor Bill Richardson and the Sacramento Kings/Monarchs to name just a few. He was also a monthly columnist for Blogger and Podcaster Magazine – the first print magazine covering this new media space. Rob is currently Chair of the Education and Outreach Committee for the Association of Downloadable Media. Rob started podcasting in late 2004, and is the host of the award winning podCast411 podcast, where he has interviewed such prominent podcasters such as Quincy Jones, Walt Mossberg, Colin Ferguson (Eureka), Ronald Moore (Executive Producer of Battlestar Galactica), Phil Gordon (World Series of Poker), Larry Kudlow (CNBC’s Kudlow and Company) and Leo Laporte (TechTV, G4 TV).
Additionally Rob is host of Today in iOS (iPhone) Podcast – the first podcast about the iPhone. In the past seven years Rob has presented at over 80 events on the subject of podcasting and New Media including the Newspaper Association of America Marketing Conference, the US Latino Film Festival, the Corporate Podcasting Summit, The Association for Women in Communications 2006 Annual Professional Conference, Social Media 2007, New Media Expo, and Blogworld Expo. He is also a regular guest lecturer at the University of Kansas School of Journalism. Rob was the Track Leader for the Podcasting sessions at the 2009 Blog World Expo – where he recruited 25 of the top experts to speak on podcasting. In 2004 Rob received his MBA from the University of Connecticut. He also has an engineering degree from the University of Dayton.

Social media has taken the world by storm, becoming the most used medium for advertising, information sharing, and business development, with many platforms through which to reach and network with customers around the world. Jason Hartman interviews Deirdre Breakenridge on the changes in public relations, how to find the people you’re trying to attract, how to monitor your community of consumers, and listening and meeting the needs of your clients by providing more meaningful information.
Some of the most popular platforms today are Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and Vimeo. Deirdre explains how to “listen” on the various platforms, including searching Google and Yahoo, describing different powerful software platforms that can provide this tool for bigger brands. She also discusses effective public relations monitoring for speakers and publishers, including being part of community chats, blogs, and forums in social media communities, such as Twitter. She encourages people to be and act like the thought leader, but to also be available to answer questions or speak or coach. Deirdre stresses who you are online is really who you need to be all the way around. Your online presentation should match who you are in real life. “Be your brand,” says Deirdre.
Jason and Deirdre touch on the subject of news releases, the changes beyond traditional outlets, including the ability to hyperlink resources and embed YouTube videos in your material. Deirdre refers to this function as PR 2.0, a more customized story that can be shared in communities. In the new age of social media and public relations platforms, there are many more options available to reach customers/consumers.
As these outlets evolve, several are becoming much more cost effective. Deirdre K. Breakenridge is Chief Executive Officer at Pure Performance Communications. A veteran in PR and marketing, Deirdre has counseled senior level executives at companies including Empire Today, Hershey’s, JVC, Kraft, the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and the World Bank. Deirdre is the author of four Financial Times books. Her book, “Putting the Public Back in Public Relations,” published in March 2009, is available in major bookstores and online. She has also authored: “PR 2.0, New Media, New Tools, New Audiences,” “The New PR Toolkit” and “Cyberbranding: Brand Building in the Digital Economy.”
